Overzicht trips

Doordat we de meeste trips aanpassen aan uw wensen, kunnen we honderden verschillende trips maken in The Gambia. Om uw keuze te vergemakkelijken, hieronder een (heel onvolledig) overzichtje van mogelijke trips.

Halve-dag trips

Banjul, hoofdstad van Gambia

Korte rit via Denton Bridge, Banjul is immers een eiland. Bezoek aan o.m. Arch 21 - de ingang van de hoofdstad- en Albert Markt. Optioneel bezoek aan museum, ook rond Banjul kunnen er vogels bekeken worden.

Banjul/Serrekunda

Bezoek aan het eiland Banjul (o.m. ark, markt) daarna rit naar het heel drukke Serrekunda en zijn grootste markt van The Gambia. Ook bezoek aan batik factory ( verven kledij) en andere gewenste bezienswaardigheden.

Brufut Woods

Dicht bij het toeristisch centrum ligt Brufut Woods, één van de beste birdinggebieden van het land. Wandelen, vogelspotten aan drinkplaatsen, en mogelijk wandelen met plaatselijke gids naar unieke vogels.

Omgeving Tanji

Korte rit naar Tanji om er de 2 delen van het Bird Reserve te bezoeken. Vanaf de hoofdweg richting inland kans op o.m. pelikanen, lepelaars, osprey's. Richting oceaan wandeling door het bos met zijn vele vogels.

Tanji Birding/Vismarkt

Voor- of namiddagtrip. Eerste stop Tanji Bird Reserve met kans op pelikanen, osprey's , lepelaars, turacco's, daarna bezoek aan de vismarkt, de grootste van het land. Op het strand de drukte rond de boten.

Kotu Creek

Hoogtepunt is de boottocht van 1 uur in de mangrove van deze prachtige kreek. Verschillende soorten ijsvogels, reigers, steltlopers. Wandeling om nog meer vogels te zien.

Abuko veemarkt/park

Leerrijk bezoek aan de veemarkt van Abuko, daarna wandelen in Abuko Reserve, het oudste park van Gambia. Met verschillende soorten apen, bijeneters en tal van bosvogels.Eventueel ook bezoek aan kijkhut.

Marakissa Woods

Vroege start met eerste indruk van het landelijke Gambia. Bezoek aan het bos, de kreek en de rijstvelden van Marakissa, een heel rijk vogelgebied. Roofvogels, watervogels, bosvogels.

Lazy Day Boat Trip

Halve dag boottrip. Vissen, vogels spotten, muziek, drankje. Prettige belevenis voor familie of vrienden, ook teambuilding firma's.

Dagtrips

Farasutu/Pirang forest birding

An absolute topper for birding, with in each forest walks and a hide. Also on the way to the forest you already can see great birds. With several types of owls, turraco's and many great ,,small birds", a great great birding day.

Fatala safari ( Senegal)

A great trip to a safari park where you can seen different types of deers, rhinos, giraffes, zebra's, monkeys, lions, and of course birds. The trip start with the ferry crossing from Banjul to Barra, already a great experience.

Kunta Kinteh Island

A historical trip with a visit of Kunta KintehIsland, Gambia's slave island, and a very interesting visit of the museum. The trip starts with the ferry crossing Banjul-Barra, then the drive to Juffureh and the boat trip to the island. Lunch is included in the price.

South Gambia Special

Lots of possibilities for this trip. For the animals we can visit Monkey Park and do a boat trip at Kotu Creek, to se a busy market is the Serrekunda Market - the biggest of The Gambia - perfect. In the batik factory you can see how clothes are painted, something completely else is the Reptile Farm with close-encouters .

South Gambia 6 in one

Another great trip in South Gambia, with 6 fantastic places to visit . Crocodile Pool, Abuko Livestock Center, Abuko Nature Reserve - the oldest reserve of the country-, Lamin Lodge, with oyster factory, the wood carving factory of Brikama and Tanji Fish Market are all great experiences. Lunch is at Paradise Beach.

Bintang Bolong

Birding direction Bintang Bolong you will discover the real rural Gambia, away from the touristical center. Lots of birding stops, lunch at Bintang Bolong Lodge above the water.

To the south

Trip to the southern border with Senegal, direction Gunjur and Kartong and their great birding places. Optional a boat trip really ,,on" the border, with lots of osprey's and other water birds.

Marakissa Woods

After a short drive and first impression of the rural Gambia a full day of birding. Before noon we visit the woods, the creek and the rice-fields of Marakissa. Lunch at Marakissa River Camp, with many birds at the drinking places, and later after noon walk in the creek before driving back.

Chimps/hippos

The long drive to Kuntaur to do the boattrip for chimps and hippos is in fact a 2 day trip, but if you really have only one day we can do it for you. A very early start for the 180 km to Kuntaur, with some stops. After the boat trip of approx. 1,5 hour we drive back.

Lazy Day Boat Trip

Full day on a boat, with birding, fishing, drinks, buffet, music. Perfect for relaxing with friends or family, for company team building.

Meerdaagse trips

2 days chimps/hippos

Discover the rural Gambia, driving to Kuntaur for a 2 hour boat trip to see chimps , hippos, birds. Next day lots of birding stops, driving back to the coast on the south bank road.

4 days safari/slaves/birds

A tour full of highlights. First the drive to Fatala Safari Park ( Senegal), then the visit to the slave island James Island. The next day we take long boat trip to see the chimps & hippos, the following days we do a lot of birding, driving back to the coast. zie link.

7 days coastal birding

A unique tour in the coastal area, so that every evening you are back in your hotel.Some hotspots we visit : Tanji, Brufut, Pirang Forest, Farasutu Forest, Kotu Creek, Kartong, Marakissa. zie link.

10 days Gambia Special

A perfect combination of coastal and inland birding. The first 4 days we visit the coastal area : Pirang, Kotu, Brufut, Tanji. Then we drive on the south bank road to some great hotspots of the rural Gambia : Tendaba, Georgetown, Bintang. zie link.

15 days Gambia Special

5 days coastal birding, 10 days up country birding on the south bank and the north bank : great trip to discover the real Gambia and his many birding hotspots. Several boat trips, hides, hidden hotspots. zie link.

15 days Gambia/Senegal
